4 ºC above ambient temperature over the complete olive reproductive cycle will stimulate the vegetative growth resulting in trees of bigger size.

Highlights

Warmer temperatures during olive fruit development will lead to fruits of smaller size, lower pulp/stone relation and maturity index.

 

The maturation period will be forwarded and extended. This effect will delay lipogenesis and consequently will decrease fat content of fruits.

 

Olive yield will be highly impacted by higher temperature due to an increase in pistil abortion and reduction in fruit set and fruit size.
